A car accident killed five Ethiopian soldiers, one civilian
A car accident in Ogaden region has killed five Ethiopian soldiers and one civilian, Ogaden News Agency (ONA) reported.
“Five Ethiopian soldiers died after a civilian truck they were traveling in between Godey and Denan crashed,” a news report published on ONA’s Somali version on Wednesday reads. Report said that the owner of the truck was forced to transport the troops.
Among of the killed was the owner of this commercial truck who lost both his life and his livestock, mainly cows and sheep, the report added.
Ogaden online could not immediately verify the incident.
Traffic accidents occur in Ogaden due to bad roads that put the people’s lives in danger during seasonal rains despite limited car ownership in occupied Ogaden.
Its common practice used by the Ethiopian forces and its associated Liyu militia to force local truck owners to transport soldiers in order to avoid ONLF clashes.
There is constant fighting between Ethiopian troops and ONLF forces in the Ogaden region. Human rights organizations accuse the Ethiopian soldiers of violating the human rights by harassing the people in the Ogaden region.
