In 1985/86, Fathi was admitted into the Faculty of Medicine, of the Somali National University where the medium of instruction was Italian Fathi successfully completed four years obtaining all the required theoretical classes.
On March 21, 1991, Fathi, his father and half of the Sheikh Adam family fled Mogadishu and travelled to Shilaabo; going back to his father and grandfather’s birth place.
