The Jigjiga Hotel Explosion

The assertion from the Ethiopian occupation
forces in the Ogaden that “The ...act
perpetrated at Andenet Hotel in Jigjiga on
Sunday is suspected to be the work of the
ONLF rebels," is baseless and unfounded
conjecture that is intended to vilify the
legitimate national liberation struggle of
the Ogaden people.
The Ogaden National Liberation Front did not
plant that bomb and as a principle does not
target civilians. At a time when millions of
the Ogaden people are suffering under the
combined effect of economic blockage and
genocide from the regime of Meles Zenawi and
the Famine, there is no motive for ONLF to
engage in such acts.
ONLF firmly believes that the Ethiopian
security forces or its cronies in the region
are behind such an act which is intended to
tarnish the legitimate national liberation
struggle of the Ogaden people. This act may
be related to the efforts of the Ethiopian
government to stem the current attempts by
the international community to force it to
lift the blockade of international aid and
allow NGOs and media to operate freely in
the Ogaden
