O.N.L.F Statement In Response To Ethiopian
Accusations Related To Addis Ababa Bombings |
14 July 2008
Ethiopian security services, in an effort to
divert attention from war crimes and crimes
against humanity in Ogaden, have falsely
accused the Ogaden National Liberation Front
(ONLF) as well as the Oromo Liberation Front
(OLF) of being responsible for attacks in
which civilians were killed in April and
May. This false accusation comes a few days
after the Swiss branch of Medecin Sans
Frontier - MSF (Doctors Without Borders)
announced it was ceasing operations in the
Fik area of Ogaden due to the Ethiopian
regimes harassment of their personnel and
blatant obstruction of their operations.
The ONLF as a matter of policy and principle
does not practice or condone the deliberate
targeting of civilians under any
circumstances. This is both unethical and
counterproductive to our political aims and
objectives and only serves the interests of
the illegitimate regime of Melez Zenawi an
his Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF)
clique.
The fact of the matter is that State
Sponsored terrorism is currently taking
place in Ogaden. It is precisely because the
TPLF regime is deliberately targeting our
civilian population and engaging in war
crimes and crimes against humanity that the
international media is denied access to
Ogaden and humanitarian agencies are
prevented from carrying out their work
freely.
The ONLF will continue to defend the people
of Ogaden from this regimes armed forces and
militias. Our increased military capacity
will be used in line with the rules of war.
