community attended an invitation only
reception held in honor of Congressman
Donald Payne who is known for his tireless
human rights efforts. Congressman Payne is

California. Congresswoman Lynne Woosley

Woosley, who is elected from California, is
also a member of the subcommittee for
African affairs and Human Rights.
Congresswoman Woosley is one of the ten most
visible members of the foreign affairs
committees.
Ogaden community members from San Jose
attended the reception on behalf of the
wider Ogaden American communities in the
United States. Mr. Axmed Jimcaale, the
chairman of the San Jose Ogaden community,
led the Ogaden community members attending
the reception. Also in attendance were many
members of the US congress and the
representatives from all levels of the local
government
The Ogaden communities throughout the United
States have lately organized and mounted a
grassroots effort to make their
representatives aware of the issues that
their brethren face in Ogaden. The fact that
the community was among the high profile
attendees who got invitation to the
reception is an
example of how far it, community, has come.
