On 31st March Western Somali Liberation Front fighters attacked an Ethiopian convoy of 40 vehicles at (?El Gir), between
Segeg and Degahmadu, in Degahabur district. The guerrillas set fire to 28 of the vehicles, which were carrying militia elements
and Cuban troops returning from the Eritrean front to the Ogaden.  In the same clash tanks were set on fire, enemy troops
wounded and heavy weapons captured.
