   The "Voice of the Liberation Fronts of Western Somalia and Abo" on 7th March said the regime of Mengistu Haile Mariam
was preparing to launch a military campaign in Western Somalia.  On the 8th the radio quoted Othman Abu Bakr - of the
ELF-Popular Revolution Forces (see ME/6061/ii) - for the report that "the Abyssinians" were moving half the Cuban forces
stationed in Eritrea to Western Somalia where, the radio said, fierce fighting was going on between the Western Somali
Liberation Front and Mengistu's troops.
