HEADLINE: Somali government declares completion of its military withdrawal from Ogaden

The government of the somali democratic republic officially
declared that it had completed the withdrawal of its armed forces
units from ogaden region by march 14, 1978. this was announced in a
statement by the somali ministry of information and
national guidance, reported the somali national news agency today.
The statement said, "the somali democratic republic now calls upon the
big powers to fulfil their undertaking to find a peaceful
settlement to the conflict in the horn of africa, which is based on
the right to self-determination of the peoples of the area."
Western news agencies reported that there had been no trace of a soviet withdrawal of its more than 1,000 military personnel or a cuban withdrawal of its more than 12,000 troops, since somalia declared on march 9 its decision to withdraw its forces and demanded that all foreign troops be withdrawn from the horn of africa.
