I agree with you. We must play an active role in the regions of the former Somalia, i.e. Puntland & Somaliland, including upsetting the current pro-Ethiopian status quo.

If that role is to have destabilizing effect, so be it. We're surrounded, caged in, and without maneuverability. Our political leaders cannot go in Ogaden and come out without placing themselves at a considerable risk to their lives. There's no place to treat our wounded, and supply of arms to our fighters is strained to the limit. Faced with these difficulties, Ethiopia can continue fighting us in the next twenty or more years.

What we need to do, in my opinion, is to turn the region into a vast warzone and drag Ethiopia into it. That way we can earn friends among the myriad warring parties that will spring up and gain unhindered access to vital areas. Ethiopian forces will have the constant headache of quelling one uprising after another; they’ll become outstretched, and their counter measured will most certainly often lead to atrocities. The Ogaden Clan has to make a clear where there interest lies among the former Somali Republic and abandon clan affiliation. I would suggest that they should forge a close relationship with Somaliland people, who in the past supported their struggle, and whom they share a strong intermarriage kinship and culture for the over centuries. Despite the good history between the peoples of Northern Somalia and the Ogaden, somaliland actually stoop much lower in their effort to please Zanawi than puntland. It is sad to see someone forcefully handed over to enemy regardless of his/her background and it is illegal under the international law. It is also culturally unacceptable according to our by-laws (xeer daarood). However, I would warn for those who lambasting Puntland cities and Puntland people to watch their words. You may rightfully criticize the ruling party but not the public in general. All cities including Garowe residents welcome Ogaden citizens and ogadens melted with Puntland societies in every conceivable way. Many Puntlanders have saved and protected many Ogaden in different ways, and many them have shown discontent about the behaviour of their government party, and you criticizing them in holistically will bring the public and people. Therefore, you must be mature enough to differentiate the government actions and the people that it rules. One more thing that you need to understand, Somalia regardless of what they claim to be is currently rule directly or indirectly, and Puntland is not immune different untreatable social flu.

This is a situation requiring a choice between equally undesirable alternatives. It is really big issues that hurts each one of us (Somali Ogaden). We know that the major policy of the Ethiopia towards Somalis is to create war, hatred and hostility between them, and at the same time we are experiencing all these problems from Somali people, so what shoud we do or where shall we go from here??.

In my opinion ONLF must understand that they are in dilemma and they have to choose at least one of two solutions or possibilities, of which none are moraly or practically easy.

First: They have to declare and start open and test war agianst these two adminstrations and its people, remember ONLF has no a territory to lose in these wars.


Second: To lay down the arms and come with concession politics and stop fighting.

Failure to choose one of the above options will lead our history, strugle and future to unknow distination. The lack of action on this partcular issue will cost us a lot. This may lead that every region, people and country dare easly to hand over our people to our enemy.
