Police make second arrest in triple homicide

E-mail Print PDF

Minneapolis police said Sunday afternoon that a second juvenile has been arrested in connection with the killing of three people at  Seward Market and Halal meats on Wednesday.

Capt. Amelia Huffman said at a news conference that the youth turned himself in. Investigators believe they now have the two suspects who were in the store at the time of the shooting.

The second suspect is a 17-year-old male from Minneapolis, police said.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested Saturday for the crime, but police would not discuss his possible role in the homicides.

Police said the Somali community was instrumental in turning up leads in the case.

Chief Tim Dolan said he did not believe the killings were part of a larger pattern of crime.

Investigators are preparing charging documents, which will be turned over to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office for action, Dolan said.

He said he hopes the two juvenile suspects will be charged as adults. He said he didn't know how soon charges would be filed.

Cousins Abdifatah Warfa and Mohamed Warfa and Anwar Mohammed were all killed about 7:45 p.m. at the market on E. Franklin Avenue and 25th Avenue S. The men were buried Friday.

The murders marked a violent week in Minneapolis. Five people have been killed in Minneapolis so far this year, and a toddler was grazed by a bullet while being carried off a buy Saturday morning.

The PEACE Foundation and MADDADS, anti-violence activists,  was to hold a prayer vigil for the city's first homicide victim, Dontae Johnson, this afternoon at 2 p.m.

This is a developing story, check back for detail

about of three men in minneapolis
written by abdirizak aden garane, nairobi, January 11, 2010
am urging that the juvenile homicide to be brought to the justice and charged to hang in a noose.
there is no way to make an excuse for murders as they decided to kill an innocent human being who is not attacked or intervened their affairs, the killed men who maintaining theirs shops peacefully and have not committed any criminal activities.
it was horrible to me to hear that destructive news of killing these muscle-milked guys who were making their own business.
i heard over assorted medias of saying the homicide are both under 18.it,s unacceptable and must be killed or jailed in life.
am requesting as personally from the peace maintaining police officers who had arrested the human flesh-eaters support their way to prosecute them under the us law even if they are 6 yrs old leave about being 17 and above and remember no one knew when and where they were born. which i mean that we dont know if they are above 20yrs or not. what the police saw and considering is that, they have been the documents written 17 and even if it,s true.
they must appear in front of the high court or criminal court.
such people are gangsters and will continue killing people released.
if i could be the one to charge them i could have charged to hang with serious strong noose and burn their dead body in a boiling water.

REGARDS
