Young Faduma Abdullahi, a teenager in Hiloogle town in the shabelle region of Ogaden was raped by Ethiopian soldiers on August 10th 2010 and is currently in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses and local reporters have confirmed Faduma refused to accompany a group of Ethiopian solidiers who wanted to "interogate her" with a male member of her family.
She repeatedly requested that she be allowed to contact her family so that a male member could accompany her to where the soldiers were taking her.
The Ethiopian soldiers refused and proceeded to force young Faduma into their vehicle where she was taken to an area in the outskirts of Higlooley town and raped multiple times.
The rape of young girls has now reached epidemic proportions in Ogaden and is becoming the most potent weapon used by the Ethiopian military against the Ogaden civilians. Civilians living closer to the military garrison where these innocent females are held report the screams of the females day and night as it appears they might be tortured or gang raped.
