Well organized protests spearheaded by the Ogaden Canadian community in Ontario and its environs took place in downtown Toronto today. There were about seven hundred protesters who donned the Canadian and the Ogaden flags at the protest site. There were also men, women, and children with multi-colored protest regalia.
These protesters had a permit that allowed them to go as far close as to the fenced in area where the G20 summit was taking place. They first gathered at the Museum station as early as 8:30 AM. They then proceeded to the main protest site which is called Queens Park, the seat of the provincial government.
Once protesters reached Queens Park, they started reading in unison protest songs. Some of the words were 'Human Rights Before Aid.’ This was in clear reference to the funds the Ethiopian regime receives in the form of aid from the Canadian government.
One protester interviewed for this report indicated that the words about human rights and aid were meant to send the message that the Canadian government should insist on the improvement of human rights in places such as the Ogaden before any aid is given to the current Ethiopian regime.
Some other words that were quite pronounced during the seven plus hours of protest were 'G20 Is No Place for Zenawi, the Unindicted Ethiopian War Criminal.' The protesters were quite forceful in making sure the many Canadian media outlets present at the protest sites used the ‘war criminal’ moniker when referring to Mr. Meles, the Ethiopian premier.
The most eloquent reason why such moniker should stick was provided by one of the protest leaders. He did indicate that Meles did perpetrate the same war crimes in Ogaden that the Sudanese president, Al Bashir, is alleged to have committed in Darfur. Yet, he said, “Due to an unashamed Western hypocrisy Meles is invited to represent Africa at the G20 summit while Mr. Al Bashir is threatened with arrest should he leave Sudan.”
Given how organized and disciplined the Ogaden protesters were, and due to the messages they were relaying in their loudspeakers, these protesters attracted a lot of media attention. Many of the protest leaders were interviewed live on many Canadian Radio and television stations. They were pictured numerous times.
The protest procession left Queens Park around 12:00 noon and made its way in front of the American consulate. At all times, the protesters had a police escort which closed many intersections so that they could pass uninterrupted. When the protesters reached in front of the American consulate, they were greeted by a very large group of protesters who were protesting for myriad of issues from Palestine to Afghanistan. One of the Ogaden protest leaders was invited to address the large gathering in front of the American consulate. The Ogaden protest leader who was a very competent speaker made a moving speech whose essence was that whoever invited Meles to Canada shares responsibility for Meles’s crimes against the Ogaden Somalis in Ogadenia.
The protesters finally made their way to the G20 fence at around 3:00 PM. There they read prepared statements; gave interviews to many media outlets present at the site; and finally the group dispersed at around 3:30 PM to avoid any potential violence which may have resulted from a larger gathering that was expected at the fence around 4:00 PM.
A 12 year old grade seven Ogaden Canadian protester summed up the mood of the protesters when he proclaimed that the Canadian government had a responsibility to detain and prosecute Meles for war crimes instead of hosting him at one of the finest hotels in Toronto.

Indeed, it was a successful demonstration where diverse groups partecipated with passion and a sense of responsibility. Moreover, it was also inspiring to see side by side various groups defiantly hoisting their respective flags against the racist and brutal tplf regime. Yes there was the Ethiopian flag, the Ogadeni as well as that of the OLF. What a blow to the tplf and its supporters, the strong and the weak.
The organizers of the jointly held anti--Melles demonstration have to be appreciated and wish they keep up the spirit of cooperation to the next level....

Farsi, let me remind you one thing maybe you are missing, success is very near and it will come in Ogadenia very soon,because the people of ogadenia stand together agaist this regime.
Every one knows which religion he/she belongs and how to worship or follow it,so better to leave the religion aside,don't ever mix our discussion with religion issues because we don't have religion problem in Ogadenia.
We can discuss religions isues separately.we have to talk about the suffering and the brutality of the innocent civillian facing in thier homes dailly.

So let us talk about the killing and raping/toturing and all those inhuman actions against innocent ogaden women and children in ogadenia commited by this regime dailly.

This is similar genocide in Rwanda in 1994 one million people lost their lifes so this ogadenia Genocide is somthing even biger than that because Rawanda Genocise was happed one time than is done but ogadenia Genocide started twenty years ago and still is continue so killing is the daily life of ogadenia people, we need to international justice because we are a victims of crime every human he or she have rights to get what he deserved so each family in ogadenia people are lost love one so that's we are all victims I think international community they just heard ogadenia Genocide but they didn't go in to ogadenia we ask them to go in to ogadenia land and see ogadenia victims you will see in reality also this Genoide it's similair killing Field in combodia from 1975 to 1979 that's time also million and milion combodia civilians children women lost their lifes this ogadenia Genocide is something the criminals who behind that killing they already dead Thats why human rights watch put criminal dictators in to jail until they die so this Ethiopia dictator he is one of those criminals he killed millions ogadenia civilians women and children he deserve to go to jail for life until he die

You always provide urgent help those in need,whether it is giving hand the victims or punishing those coused the suffering.and brutality.
All the world welcomes how you are dedicated to help all kinds of victims, united nations helped many nation whom were under toture, killing and numerous inhumanities.
It has punished seriously those committed such in human activities,we hope that all men has same rights.
Human being has rights to choose their leaders,to govern themselves and to be out of any sort of punishments,and occupation.
