On April 8th 2010 The Ogaden Youth Network of San Diego lunched a campaign titled, “Call For Justice In The Ogaden” with the intention of raising national awareness regarding the long standing conflict and human rights abuses currently taking place in the Ogaden region of eastern Ethiopia.
By targeting educational institutions, politicians along with the international media OYN is determined to bring forth this conflict and the injustice committed against the inhabitants of the Ogaden to the hearts and minds of the American public.
The first destination of this national endeavor was the University of California San Diego (UCSD), where professors, student organizations, and representatives of major advocacy organizations such as, Amnesty International and Invisible Children gathered to hear and discuss the little known conflict in the Ogaden. The event was the first of its kind at UCSD and was truly a success. Using presentations and documentary films the members of the Ogaden Youth Network brought forth and addressed the many issues facing the Ogaden region. After unveiling the hidden atrocities committed by the Ethiopian government members of the Ogaden Youth Network brought forth a list of actions that audience members could take, such actions included urging local and state representatives to take an aggressive stance against the Ethiopian government for its inhumane abuses in the Ogaden. As well as to reach out to media outlets inorder to shed light to the crisis in the Ogaden.
Many audience members were unable to comprehend how the injustice in the Ogaden could go unnoticed for so long, and reassured the youth that they would take an
active role in spreading what they had learned. Furthermore representatives from Invisible Children, a human rights advocacy organization based in San Diego proposed a partnership with the OYN in order to effectively reach out to key politicians and policy makers in Washington In order to effectively lobby for the halt of all U.S aid and support to the Ethiopian regime.
In conclusion, the Ogaden Youth Network proposed that it will directly reach out to companies and countries currently investing in Ethiopia to persuade them to disinvest from the country in order to pressure the Ethiopian regime to come to the negotiating table with the Ogaden National Liberation Front, to once and for all end the never ending conflict in the Ogaden.

In a few years' time OYN members will be mature enough to shoulder the difficult task of advocating for the just cause of Ogaden and take a lion share in the liberation of Ogaden. They should know that they are hope and aspiration of Ogadenis anywhere and everwhere therefore I would go for it guys.
