The Ogaden National Liberation Front has ascertained that certain multinational Oil corporations are intent on exploiting Ogaden fossil fuel resources in alliance with the current Ethiopian regime
that is committing genocide and War Crimes in Ogaden. Currently certain companies are clearing of all vegetation an area equal to 1600 sq. Km. in Cagarweyne and Miir-Khalif near Wardheer, displacing thousands of the nomadic population and destroying the scarce vegetation in a vulnerable ecology. Besides destroying the livelihood of the rural population in the affected areas, these companies are filling the coffers of this regime and financing its criminal activities in occupied Ogaden. This in turn has encouraged the regime of Meles Zenawi to undertake a scorched earth policy in the Ogaden and commit genocide in the Ogaden. The sites these companies operate at are guarded by mechanised Ethiopian Army troops who make fortifications and forcefully evict the local population by killings, rape, detention and destruction of property. Thus these companies are accomplices to the Ethiopian regimes crimes and are directly involved in the on-going genocide in the Ogaden. Furthermore, in order to accommodate these immoral and gluttonous rushes for Oil in Ogaden, Ethiopia killed, raped and illegally detained thousands of Ogaden civilian and imposed economic and aid blockade at a time of when there was a full blown draught in the Ogaden.
Ethiopia is violating both International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Ogaden. These rights had been enshrined in the UN Charter and international laws since the end of World War II and have benefited many colonised and oppressed nations of the world; however, they have deliberately been deprived of the Ogaden people. Today Ethiopia is denying the Ogaden people their right to life and development while both the UN and the AU are turning a blind eye. Furthermore the current regime in Ethiopia is bent on further usurping their natural resources, and these multi-national companies are party to this heinous crime perpetrated against a colonised stateless people.
Since ONLF has persistently warned these unscrupulous multinational companies and their governments, it is very clear that they are not only manifestly disregarding the plight of the Ogaden people but are actively participating in the violation of the Human and Political rights of the Ogaden people, the Ogaden National Liberation Front has been left no alternative but to take all measures necessary to protect the inalienable rights of the Ogaden people.

A wise man once said, "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." The Ogaden people need to be free because without their freedom it will compromise the freedom of human lives everywhere. The cries of these people have been long forgotten but the day will come when they shall overcome. The pain and injustice of my people will be answered by Allah(saw), the Muslims of mecca struggled for countless years before they over took their homeland once again. I have no doubt that God will save the ogaden people but before God can help us we must help ourselves. The best solution for helping our people right now is through education the pen is always more powerful the the sword!

“The best solution for helping our people right now is through education the pen is always more powerful the the sword!”
Not always, dear sister.
A clear example is the current rulers of Ethiopia, the TPLF. They did not come to power by way of education. They forced their way IN through the barrel of the gun, or ‘the sword’ if you like. They can only be removed by violent means.
Also, our educated elites have let down the Ogaden nation. Their motto is: aan halganka wax ku noqdo. Waxaa kamaqan: maxaan halganka ku biirin karaa?
John F Kennedy once said: “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country”.
If only our educated elites could heed this call and contribute positively to the freedom of their people things would have changed for the better.
The peasant and the pastoralist sections of our society have contributed immensely to the struggle through their selfless sacrifices, the townsfolk and the so-called educated groups are conspicuously missing from the scene.

God forbid that those greedy fat cats- oil companies- should ever get the opportunity to exploit our resources in ogaden , they would strip the region bare like locusts.
We all know that the brutal regime of Meles is a means of exploitation , injustice and oppression.
Therefore, it is our responsibilities to safeguard and defend our rights and our god given resources even if we have to fight to the last standing man.

New research and exploration are waste of time and resources. No oil in this region, no development in this region...No one seems winning regardless of where he/she works for...only blood..blood..blood until the judgement-day. Allah will ask many what the hell they were doing in Ogaden and how many unamred, powerless, children born to suffer...folks lived to suffer... elders experienced pain and hunger did they kill? May allah punish those who made this region they way it is and it will be!

Tell me when did Cagarweyne and Mir-Khalif become Ogaden area? do you even know who inhabits this areas? Nonthaless people in this areas are also suffering but a tribal name will not make them fight, since they are not part of the tribe of Ogaden. People please lets just drop that name and start to organise ourselfs better. Much love to all people of the region.

The Ethiopian government cares nothing for Ogaden(its education, economy, development, health, sanitation and human services) but it's oil for their own personal gain. Good job Eritrea for financing the Ogaden army so the can beat those selfish Ethiopian army and that madman and THE WORLD BIGGEST TERRORIST,Meles Zenawi.
LET OGADEN PEOPLE FREE AND LET THEM REBUILD THIER REGION JUST LIKE SOMALILAND AND PUNTLAND. THERE

There is currently a liberation war going on in the Ogaden, waged heroicly by its people to affirm their inalienable right to self-determination, dignity and freedom.
The Ogaden is conflict zone, its the scene of gruesome human rights abuses and voilence commited by the Ethiopian regime against innocent civilians in order to deter them by coercion and brute force from reclaiming the rights. Therefore, its imprudent, immoral and dangerous for anyone to contemplate on investmenting in such a place.
In any investment undertaking there are risks and benefits involved that had to be weighed. Here the risks far outweigh the expected returns.
