OYSU- strongly deplores the recent extrajudicial killings of civilians On February 12, 2012 the Ethiopian Army in Ogaden opened fire on a local assembly of called by the elders in Gunagado district of Degahbur region. The Zenawi regime chooses to continue to use force and intimidation to solve the socio-political problems created by its 20 year brutal rule. Mass killings of civilians and collective punishment will only exacerbate the myriad internal problems and destabilize Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa.
OYSU- is troubled by the heinous act in which 35 civilians were brutally killed at the hands of Meles Zenawi’s security forces. The killing of civilian population in a conflict zone flies in the face of human morality and is a violation of international law.
The savagery with which the Meles regime responds to internal problems must be condemned by all civilized nations. It is incumbent upon the international community to vociferously condemn the barbaric actions of the Zenawi regime and hold the perpetrators of such reprehensible deeds accountable for their crimes.
The OYSU - would like to reiterate to the TPLF leaders that regardless of its wicked and terrorist acts against the Ogaden people, its demise is inevitable and the Ogaden people and their just struggle for liberation, justice and human dignity shall prevail. We also strongly condemn the wicked regime’s inhuman and terrorist actions against the Ogaden people in general and the Ogaden youth in particular. We forewarn the United Nations and the UN member Governments that genocide is in the making in Ethiopia, particularly in Ogaden. We again call on the Governments of the United States.UK African Union. Arab League and the Western Democracies to reconsider their support to the tyrannical and genocide regime led by Meles Zenawi and support the struggles of the Ogaden and the other peoples in Ethiopia for liberation.
