Initial reports received from the ONLA (Ogaden National Amry) central command which were corroborated by reliable local, civilian eyewitnesses confirm the success of the ONLA commandoes in inflicting heavy losses to the Woyane  (Ethiopian) militias in and around many Ogaden cities and towns.

First reports provided by the ONLA central command indicate the operations undertaken by the specially trained ONLA unit which operates in and around Nogob province resulted in the capture of huge caches of military supplies and the death of more than 85 Ethiopian soldiers in Cali Fancad, Sagag District. The supplies included small arms including, AK47, PKM machine guns, sophisticated military radios. This successful attack happened on Oct. 29, 2011 after ONLA learned that large Ethiopian Military convoy was travelling in the area.

The ONLA claimed to have inflicted heavy military losses including the death of five high ranking military officials. Local eyewitnesses corroborated the ONLA claim as some of the local civilians attempted to bury some of the dead which were found in the forested areas surrounding the military garrisons overrun by the ONLA commandoes.

It is reported, again also corroborated by civilian eyewitnesses in the area, that a convoy of mainly armed personnel carriers and tanks sent as a reinforcement to the Cali Fancad garrison from Sagag was waylayed by the ONLA in the outskirts of Sagag. Reports indicate that these reinforcements sustained major losses. Although this reinforcement could not proceed to Cali Fancad, it is unknown at the time of going to press whether their remnants were able to return to Sagag.

In the Ceel Xaar, Baabili District, ONLA commando offensive which started on Oct 27, 2011 is said to have also resulted heavy losses on the Woyane (Ethiopian) militias, including 22 Woyane Soldiers killed and 17 more injured. Ogaden Online news network reporters operating in the area confirmed that there were three major battles between the ONLA commandoes and the Woyane militias in the main military garrison and finally ONLA take control of the military garrison.

As of the time of going to press, the ONLA commandoes were still controlling the main military garrison in Ceel Xaar Babili.

On Oct 26, 2011 After ONLA received an intelligent tip that Ethiopian soldiers detained hundreds of civilians in Fiidoole, Dhuxun military prison. The Liberation Army sent a team of specially trained Commando who successfully freed the civilians. The detained civilians were tortured and badly treated. Among the Prisoners found were women, children and elderly people who were abducted by the Ethiopian Army.

Although reliable eyewitnesses in the areas where the offensives took place confirmed seeing many Woyane militias taken prisoners by the ONLA, the leaders of the ONLA refused to deny or confirm any such prisoner takings.
