Editor's note: Liyu Police are like Janjaweed militia. This militia is trained, financed, and armed by the Ethiopian State. It has been sanctioned to setup their own detention centers where those suspected of being members of ONLF or sympathizers are interrogated and mercilessly tortured or killed for information.
Reports reaching the Ogaden Online service desk confirm the existing of deadly skirmishes between the Woyane militias (Ethiopian Military) and so-called Liyu police members in the city of Qabridahar.
Eyewitnesses and sources within the Woyane militias who requested anonymity confirm the deaths of fourteen Woyane and Liyu police members. These sources indicate that the cause of the continuing armed clashes between these two militias is based on competition for each militia to have supremacy and control over the city.
The Woyane militias argue that the Liyu police should be spearheading attacks against the ONLA (ONLF) while the Liyu police members argue that such attacks are the domain of the Woyane militias presenting themselves as the Ethiopian military.
In related news, there have been increased escapees from both the Woyane and the Liyo police surrendered to the ONLA. In one such incident, fourteen Woyane and Liyu police members have surrendered to the ONLA based in the city of Dhenan.
