Respected Octogenarian Traditional Elder Extra judicially Killed in Shinbirray

Reports reaching the Ogaden Online service desk confirm the extrajudicial killing of a respected elder Suldaan Xasan Xuseen Mataan in the town of Shinbirray by the Woyane (Ethiopian) militias and their associates on Wednesday, February 16th 2011. Shinbirray is about 15 kilometers to the city of Qabri Dahar.

A number of eyewitnesses who were present in the town confirmed that the respected octogenarian elder was in the town to visit the nomadic families who have been severely impacted by the current drought.

He is reported to have been killed after he tried to secure the release of two young women whom the Woyane militias were trying to abduct. It is reported that the respected elder was killed after the Woyane militias opened fire while he was trying to approach the militias that abducted the two young women.

This is indeed a tragic news and yet another incident of a long list of extra judicial killings that the Woyane militias are responsible for. The killing of the respected elder does indicate however a renewal of the genocide that the Woyane militias have been perpetrating in the Ogaden.

Reporters in the area indicate that there appears to be a renewed Woyane focus on the Qabri Dahar area as if the Woyane decided that punishing the innocent civilians would somehow make get the upper hand of the ever increasing, and successful, war waged by members of the Ogaden National Liberation Army (ONLA).
