An Ethiopian town under high surveillance

E-mail Print PDF

In the afternoon and evening of 3 November, the town of Harar in the eastern part of the country was under high military surveillance. Some army vehicles carrying machine guns drove through the town, checking the streets. The reason for this movement was that arms had been stolen from a military depot in the town.

A certain Major Hassan Warsame Mohamed was arrested and transfered to Addis Ababa, accused of collaborating with agents of the OgadenNational Liberation Front (ONLF, armed opposition) to carry out the theft. According to certain local observers it is not unusual for government army officers, including Tigrayans, to be involved in illegal arms deals in Ethiopia.

It is not unusual because the TPLF regime in Addis Ababa has passed it best buy date and every body is for himself.
Low moral and indifference is rife within the army because of dteriorating standard of living, corruption and nepotism practised by TPLF member against other ethnic groups and ever growing opposition groups within Ethiopia, but most importantly ONLF's undeniable strength, ferocity, and efficient in the battlefield.

Yabell,

Dreaming and halucination are the typical characteristics of your pathetic terrorist TPLF. Sooner rather than later ONLF will make sure to put you in your rightful place.

This will all STOP if you let OGADEN FREE. The somalians will NEVER stop what their aiming for. The reason they so desperately want freedom is because that TERRORIST MELES ZENAWI does not bring justice to the somalian people. Does the Ethiopian citizens in the east know what Meles Zenawi is doing? That he's probably doing something bad? Why is he still in power? Do they call that NORMAL? Even the Eritreans(their habasha sister and brothers) hate Meles Zenawi. How sad.
