Serious confrontation near Harar

E-mail Print PDF

According to information received by The Indian Ocean Newsletter, a deadly skirmish occurred on 16 November in a place known as Jaketa, situated between Harar and Babile in the east of Ethiopia. It pitted government soldiers of the South Eastern Command against unidentified rebel forces and is believed to have made several tens of victims among the government troops. Many of the wounded soldiers were treated at the Hiwot Fana Hospital and other hospitals in Harar.

Although no organisation has yet officially claimed responsibility for this action, it is highly likely that those involved were Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) rebels, the most active group in this region. However, according to some witnesses, several of these attackers spoke to each other in the Amhara language, which is not so common in the ranks of the ONLF. They may have been instructors from outside this region of Ethiopia. This military confrontation occurred after arms were stolen in Harar at the beginning of the month, a theft attributed to ONLF rebels (ION 1273).

Dear Ogaden Somali people,

Congratulations once again for your action that is incapacitating Abyssinian all round potential!!

Your examplary struggle that aimed at liberating your nation shades light on Abyssinian heineousness.

Whether Abyssinian brutal leaders and their elites believe or not; and or swallow or regurgitate; the time has passsed for supperssing the voice of any nation under their occupation. While they are talking their 3000 years mantra; the heroic resitance movements of the enslaved nations is tremendously breaking their back-bone and incapacitating Meles's brutal rulers authoritarian aparatus!!

Sooner or later, the Ogadenia shall be free country where its people decide about their own affairs without any ones lecturing. May your dream come true!! I am sure that it will be materialised!!

Good luck with your stride on the path of liberty and ultimate independence!! The time shall not be long how enduring and costly it might be.

Liberty, Freedom and Independence for all nations under Abyssinian colonial yoke!!

We all shall follow your footstep until we see our nations free from pernicious Abyssinian opperesion!!

Kambata Xoola, Sidama national

TPLF as an entity is known to be pathological liers who have no shame in saying lie after lie. But if anyone
needed a concrete prove that the claim of propoganda minister Simon Bereket or TPLF lie machine stating that ONLF is wiped out and pose no threat to his regime, the events of the last two weeks of the decisive multiple target offensive by ONLF should be more than enough.

Whatever the claims of their lie producing machine ONLF is poised to to take the fight to its western front including Harar, Diri-dhaba, and further west getting ever closer to the center of TPLF seat of power.

These areas is very strategic to TPLF retire traders and they will cut roads between Djibouti and Berbera as soon as possible while TPLF power is declining. Thanks to OLF and ONLF fighters to fall down dictator Malez Zanawi and Somalis in Ogaden and Oromos will be free If may God be willing

The fact of the matter is, from now on ONLF assault on the tired and exhausted TPLF is unstoppable.

The TPLF propaganda Minster, Bereket Simon, may say whatever he want but the fact remains that their graph is pointing southward while ONLF's is up and north. Once things are at that jucnture, we know where they will end up.

Ogadenis are glad that their sacrifices were not in vain. And they now know that, their struggle for their rights is on the hand undeniable and on the other has aleady passed a point of no return.

It just couldn't get better.
