Second day of protests against Ethiopia’s Butcher in Oslo, Norway.

At least over six hundred people protested outside the Oslo hotel where Ethiopian Dictator Meles Zenawi was attending an international energy conference this week.

The protesters, mostly members of Ogaden Scandinavian Communities, say billions in Europian Humanitarian aid for Ethiopia has been funneled to military operations in what some call a “silent genocide in Ogaden region”.

Hours before the meeting was to start, Ogaden community members who have succeeded in obtaining a legal permit to protest in and around the meeting venue, have gathered. Waving flags with green, light blue and red stripes, chanted “No more genocide in Ogadenia”. The protesters had microphones and sound amplifiers that reached the hotel and its surroundings.

One protester said he wants the Norway to hold the Ethiopian government accountable. “They’re murdering and raping,” he said. “There’s a genocide going on in Ogaden.”

The genocide is escalating, due to starvation in the region, where Ethiopia has not allowed access for media or nongovernmental organizations, or any commercial activities.

Some other words that were quite pronounced during the two days of protest were s No Place for Zenawi, the Unindicted Ethiopian War Criminal, Stop Genocide in Ogaden, Human Rights before Aid.'  The protesters were quite forceful in making sure the many Norwegian media outlets present at the protest sites used the ‘war criminal’ moniker when referring to Mr. Meles, the Ethiopian premier.

The most eloquent reason why such moniker should stick was provided by one of the protest leaders. He did described Meles as a “fascist dictator” and that the alleged atrocities carried out by his forces have been documented by Human Rights Watch as well as the US State Department

Given how organized and disciplined the Ogaden protesters were, and due to the messages they were relaying in their loudspeakers, these protesters attracted a lot of media attention. Many of the protest leaders were interviewed live on many Norwegian Media. They were pictured numerous times.
