Jailed Swedes still held in Ogaden province

Despite the earlier information given by Ethiopian authorities that the two Swedish reporters had been moved to the capital city Addis Ababa, the Foreign Ministry has now been told they are still held in the Jijiga area....

Chairman of the Swedish branch of the organization Reporters without Borders, Jesper Bengtsson, said on Tuesday that he thinks the foreign ministry is doing a good job in helping the captured Swedes.

But the government is too restrained in their statements in what is ultimately a political question, Bengtsson told TT.

"When two journalists are held captive in a foreign country because they have tried to report on possible human rights abuse, the government should speak up and demand their release. I find it very hard to understand why this is treated like any consular matter," Bengtsson told TT on Tuesday. Read Full Story

SWEDISH GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE STRONG ENOUGH

Hello everyone. I find it hard to understad 2 things. 1 Why the Swedish government is so reluctant to demand the release of the jailed journalists. 2 what I also wonder is why EU member states is silent about the hidden atrocities in the Ogaden.

i thing swedish government and EU they didn't get any information related with the jouranalists.
the media in ogaden is very weake..Tv and radio will be good thing to reach the news to the world.and remember we are just between two brothers.

they are so reluctant cos they are friends of The Dictator Males,
they know everything about Ogaden, the Hunger, massacre, torture and many more but reluctant cos they pay the salaries of Ethiopian solders.
