Prime Minister Meles Zenawi's wifehas in her turn called for the famous Empress Zewditu Hospital in the capital to be closed. Azeb Gola intervened to do so wearing her hat of head of the social affairs committee of parliament. Although the Menelik Hospitalis currently in the doldrums, pressure to close the Zewditu Hospital has brought reactions from many people who consider that Azeb Gola wants to give preferential treatment to clinics and hospitals owned by Tigrayans and use their run-down state as an excuse to close down other establishments.
