On May 19th, 1998, Ogaden Online was borne from a dream of wanting to create an outlet to relay news from Ogaden to the community in the Diaspora. Very few of those who were the pillars of the creation of this website, have an inkling that Ogaden Online will one day reach the stage where it is now. It is now an outlet of news for people from all walks of life. It is a news source for policy makers from powerful nations; bean writers in search of a readily available news source; and to the ordinary folks who are interested in hearing view other than what is spewed by the Ethiopian misinformation ministry and its cohorts.
Ogaden Online is not only one of the most up to the minute updated websites on the Internet but it is also one of the most visited news sites on the World Wide Web. A testament to the Ogaden Online popularity is the two million and half monthly unique visitors to the website. Ogaden Online website is now listed on Google news daily. It is also the authoritative source of original news both in English and Somali, among others, for the World News Connection, a publication compiled and distributed by the National Technical Information Service, US Department of Commerce.
Ogaden Online has come a long way from its infancy when it only had presence by way of a registered domain on the WWW. It has come a long way from the days when it was hardly updated. It has come millions of miles from the days when it hardly had any news from Ogaden let alone analysis and reports from it’s on the ground reporters in Ogaden who risk their lives in gathering news for the WWW
nation.
However, it is today 12 long years to the day when the Ogaden Online service was found. It is exactly 12 years to the day when few individuals with nothing more than what at the time seemed like a pipedream came together to form the foundation of what has now become the largest news service throughout the horn of Africa.
Of course, no dream becomes reality without tremendous sacrifices being made by those who believe in the dream. The Ogaden online news service is no exception. There are individuals who have lost their lives covering news events from the Ogaden frontlines. There are others who lost their freedom for bringing to the fore the modern day genocide taking root in Ogaden.
As we look back at these past twelve years, we note all the challenges we have overcome, all the voices that said it could not be done and all of those who helped make Ogaden Online what it is, the premier source of information on Ogaden anywhere.
Looking forward, we note that there is still much to be done. We will make every efforts to make Ogaden Online as interactive as possible. In the months and years ahead, Ogaden Online will not only remain the leader in information and news on Ogaden but will also serve as a primary meeting place on the internet for those interested in the issues affecting the Somali people of Ogaden.
To all those who volunteered to make the Ogaden online news service a reality, we salute you for your service. We thank you for your tireless efforts. We cherish your 12 long years of exemplary Ogaden news service. We mourn your losses in life, in wealth, and in precious time. We hope the people of Ogaden will reward you one day.
Twelve long years later, you are still going strong, stronger than ever, and more determined than ever to bring the plight of the people of Ogaden to the global masses. You have succeeded in doing that, we hope you will succeed in uniting the Ethiopian masses to overcome the now wobbling Woyane Tyranny.

Second, you're standard is very low.
Third, your editorials and opinion pieces have deteriorated since the 'purges' of your more learned writers (begging from 2006 ONLF elective conference till now). I still vividly remember your editorial concerning the outcome of that conference and how it was removed immediately. Ever since then this website is being run by amateurs.
We're only apparently only 'loyal' to your gibberish because of the struggle. Nothing more nothing less.
Change your ways or you'll become irrelevant.

This Website claims to be the ‘official page’ of the oppressed Ogaden Somali community in the internet yet it doesn’t stand to test.
Budul wrote the other day that he wished to see more article of the kind Abdifataah kaariye writes to be featured in this site. I don’t think that will happen. The managers of this site are not open minded people who encourage difference of opinion and diversity. By diversity I don’t mean the kind username Kaahin Yare wrote just now but a more nuanced way to approach our struggle and ideas and discourse that might be beneficial to struggle than the one that’s prevalent here.

If Ogadenia wants to be a free nation, then Ogadenia needs to embrace equality and diversity both in ideas and actions.
I personaly love ogaden online and see it as a good source of information. However if you have encountered otherwise you are absolutely free to address the issues of your concern.
Finally you do not need to apologize to any one since you are free to express your ideas.

All I'm saying is, we must NOT settle for lest. Let's strive for the best.
This rather lame excuse for laziness: "Ogaden Online is not only one of the most up to the minute updated websites on the Internet but..." is not a sufficient explanation to assuage our dissappointment. Why is it not updated? When you visit this site and see the same articles running for weeks sometimes, are'nt you dissappointed? We cannot be expected to reward mediocrity with compliments.
Giberishes like Woyane this, Woyane that, and the occasional ONLF press release is all that left on this once vibrant website.
I expect from whoever runs this site to admit their shortcomings and do something about it.
