There is no doubt that the extrajudicial killings, rape, and gruesome maiming reported in Ogaden perfectly fit the legal definition of genocide. There is also a consensus of opinion as to who the Ogaden genocide perpetrators are. These genocidal criminals include those who plan, direct, and carryout genocidal crimes against the Ogaden citizenry.

Individuals such as Da’ud (Amhar), the head of the so-called Somali administration, Abdi Iley, the head of the Security Bureau, the heads of the Woyane militias and their marauding militias including the local militias, and the head of the current Tigrian clique in Addis Ababa Mr. Meles Zenawi are now part of what is locally dubbed as the Ogaden genocide marshals (OGM).

All of the aforementioned individuals are directly responsible for the genocide that has, and continues to date, taken place in Ogaden. We know that there is no single and exclusive prosecutorial jurisdiction for crimes against humanity such as genocide. This means that every government from Canada to the Cayman Islands, from tiny Sierra Leone to Sweden, and from the United Arab Emirates to the mighty United States of America has a moral duty and responsibility to prosecute those criminals who happen to be present in its jurisdiction.

It also means that victims of genocide could lodge criminal complaints against the said individuals in the countries where these perpetrators of genocide may happen to now reside or visit for whatever reason.

For the longest time the current perpetrators of the Ogaden genocide have avoided leaving the country. For whatever reason, many of the key perpetrators of the Ogaden genocide are NOW said to have either left or are in the process of leaving Ogaden and Ethiopia for unannounced, and yet unexplained, overseas trips. Many of these criminals are said to be using passports with fake names instead of their real names.
 
Since, it is now reported that two of the key perpetrators of the Ogaden genocide – Mr. Da’ud Amhar and Abdi Iley, are now visiting Europe – especially Sweden- it incumbent upon the relatives or the victims of the Ogaden genocide to lodge criminal complains against these individuals.

It is a golden opportunity to bring to justice the perpetrators and ‘marshals’ of the Ogaden genocide. It is a chance to show the world that the Ogaden victims, relatives, and their supporters will not rest until all the perpetrators of the Ogaden genocide are brought to justice

We, the Ogaden Editorial Board, understand how difficult it is for the relatives and or victims of the Ogaden genocide to remain civil when the very individuals who maimed their mothers, may have raped their sisters, or worse may have killed their relatives in the most unimaginable manners visit their adopted countries.

We beg these victims to use the European, American, or African legal systems to bring these perpetrators to justice. The victims should refrain from engaging in any activity that may be construed as stooping to the same level as the perpetrators of the Ogaden genocide.

The victims should instead mount a sustained, vigorous legal campaign to make sure these individuals are first detained and then prosecuted in Sweden, or wherever else they happen to land. Let us all make sure that these monsters of men never experience freedom of movement again.
