The breaking news reported by one of the Ogaden online reporters inside Ogadenia is very troubling indeed. It has been reported that an attempt by the Tigray militia in the town of Qabridahar to force the majority of those currently held illegally in the town’s jails to be evacuated to the town of Badme in Eritrea in order to force them to fight as part of the Ethiopian militias currently being rounded up from many parts of Ethiopia triggered an unrest. Upon the refusal by the detainees to board the military personnel carriers being readied for their transport to Badme, the Tigray militia guarding them opened fire and killed countless detainees. The rest of the detainees attempted to runaway but more were reported killed either within the military compounds or different parts of the town where they ended up as a result of their escape.

Ogaden Online editorial board condemns in the strongest terms these extrajudicial killings that took place in the town of Qabridahar yesterday. It is not the first time that such killings took place in many parts of Ogadenia however what is new is the scale of the death and destruction to the meager property owned by the Ogaden citizenry. We ask the world community to investigate these senseless acts being committed against unarmed and defenseless Ogaden civilians. We ask the world community, particularly human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, to send investigative teams to the town of Qabridahar in order to find out the extent of the death and destruction of property. Those who committed these senseless acts against the Ogaden citizenry should know that no matter how long it takes, they will be brought to justice. The world community had failed the Ogaden citizenry many times before however, it is our since belief that this time, the world will not watch the carrying out of extrajudicial killings against Ogaden citizenry by an armed and uncontrollable Tigray militia.
