March 04, 2006- High ranking
officials from the Ogaden National
Liberation Front, ONLF, have in the past
three weeks been touring both EU member
and non-member countries. This high
level delegation is led by the capable
ONLF vice chairman Mr. Mohamed Ishmael.
So far reports reaching our service desk
have confirmed that the delegation
visited UK, Norway and Finland.
Reporters who are privy to the inner
workings of this delegation told Ogaden
Online staffers in Europe that the
delegation set the accomplishment of two
important goals as a priority. The first
item on the agenda is to meet with as
many members of the Ogaden communities
in the Diaspora in order to both update
them on the current situation of their
homeland and to solicit their ideas on
how to strengthen the struggle to free
Ogadenia from Tigrian led colonization
and mistreatment. The second issue is to
meet with the host European countries
foreign parliamentary committees and
foreign ministries to discuss the
current situation in the horn of Africa
especially in Ogadenia.
While visiting Norway, the delegation
held consecutive meetings with the
community in and around Oslo. The
delegation also met with officials from
the Norwegian foreign ministry as well
as members of the Norwegian foreign
affairs parliamentary committee. Those
present in these high level meetings
have confirmed to Ogaden Online that the
delegation was successful in explaining
to the officials they have met the
colonial situation and the daily
inhumane treatments faced by the Ogaden
citizenry. The delegation have reminded
the officials they have met, Norway’s
humanitarian responsibility in aiding
the Ogaden civilians as well as the
freedom struggle waged by ONLF in
liberating the innocent Ogaden citizenry
from Tigrian colonization.
The delegation headed to Finland on
Tuesday February 28th after they have
wrapped up their official visit to
Norway. Ogaden community in Finland led
by the community chairman as well as
ONLF members have welcomed the
delegation to Finland upon their
arrival. The delegation started
fulfilling their official duties as soon
as they landed in Finland. On Wednesday
March 1st, they, the delegation, have
met with officials from the Finish
Foreign ministry whom they have updated
the current situation in Ogadenia. They
have also requested from the Finish
authorities not to forget Ogadenia at
this hour of need. The Finish
authorities that the delegation met have
promised to keep a close eye on the
happenings in Ogadenia. They have also
promised to establish ongoing
communication with ONLF officials so
that Finland will not only be aware of
the current situation in Ogadenia but
will also be in a position to help
Ogadenia in its quest for self freedom.
The delegation continues its official
tour in Finland.
Reporters in Europe have confirmed to
Radio Freedom service desk that it is
indeed a major setback for the current
Ethiopian regime to see high ranking
ONLF officials not only tour these
European countries but to have them
succeed in getting reception with
foreign ministry officials as well as
parliamentary foreign affairs committees
in order to relay the true picture of
the inhumane treatments faced by the
Ogaden citizenry under Tigrian
subjugation.
